For several decades, Therien Jiu-Jitsu & Kickboxing has been a leader in the field of martial arts, fitness and personal development. Kyoshi John Therien and Jean-Yves Thériault are respected internationally for their dedication and contribution to the martial arts industry and its practitioners. Indeed, thousands of students credit these individuals and many other Therien instructors with instilling in them the discipline, respect, courage and confidence that has enabled them to achieve a positive balance in their lives. Therien Jiu-Jitsu and Kickboxing Schools, operating in the National Capital Region, was established on April 1st, 1968. Under the direction of Kyoshi John Therien, many instructors are ranked from 1st to 6th DAN (degree) and continue to teach the quality that has earned Therien the reputation of being one of the best schools of its kind in the world. Therien Jiu-Jitsu is Canada's largest and most successful Jiu-Jitsu school
with over 750 licensed and graduated black belts and over 3000 active
members ranging in age from 3 to 75 years young. Therien has 6 full-time
dojos (schools) in the National Capital Area ( Ottawa East, Stittsville,
Manotick, Chesterville, Gatineau, and Ottawa West).
