Why is TMA’s After School Program is the best place for your child?
Students will be provided with FREE transportation from area schools directly to Therien Martial Arts state of the art facility. The Ottawa Student Transport Authority has confirmed Therien Martial Arts as a designated drop zone so your child will be transported directly to our facility after school! If your child attends A. Lorne Cassidy or Holy Spirit direct transportation has been arranged with a local bus company for the same convenience.
Your child will be provided with a healthy snack and time to complete homework with the help they need. There will also be supervised internet access if needed to complete homework assignments. If there is no homework a structured activity will be provided such as reading or word games.
They key benefit for your child will be the daily Martial Arts class where kids will learn self-defense and develop physical skills such as balance, coordination, strength and flexibility. The best part? Kids love it! Our classes are fun, making learning exciting rather than a chore!
Built in to each day is an element of Character Building and Life Skills Development. The focus will be on topics such as anti-bullying, internet safety, leadership skills and developing an attitude of respect and friendship.
We want your child to have the best experience possible and encourage all students to participate fully in each activity. As such, we ask that children are only picked up early for extenuating circumstances such as doctor’s appointments.
When you pick up your child, they’ve had their snack, done their homework and participated in a great physical activity allowing you to enjoy that precious quality time in the evenings!
Here is what an average day will look like:
3:00 pm to 3:15 pm
Students will be picked up from school and taken to Therien Martial Arts
3:15 pm to 3:30 pm
Snack Time! Kids will be given a healthy snack and some time to unwind after a hard day at school!
3:30 pm to 4:30 pm
Homework or brainwork! During this block of time our TMA After School staff will focus on helping your child complete any homework assignments or review any subjects they may be having difficulty with. If you child doesn’t have any homework an alternative, yet mentally stimulating activity will be provided such as reading, word games, or puzzles. If needed, students will be provided with supervised internet access to complete homework assignments.
4:30 pm to 5:30 pm
Time to get the kids moving with an exciting Martial Arts Class! This class will keep your child smiling, sweating and learning! Built into each Martial Arts Class will be a Message of the Week focused on character building, life skills and developing leadership qualities.
