Three Canadian Championships

Last April 30th, in Lévis, Quebec, as part of the World Kobudo Federation International Martial Arts Convention, an Amateur Kickboxing Gala was organized under the direction of 23 times world kickboxing champion, Jean-Yves Thériault, the Iceman, and the Amateur Kickboxing Association of Quebec. In total, there were a dozen amateur kickboxing matches, of which there were three Canadian Championships : Welter Weight, Cruiser Weight and Super Heavy Weight.

René Gratton of École de Karaté Urbain from Mont-Laurier, Quebec won the Welter Weight Canadian Amateur Kickboxing Championship by KO in the third round. Renshi Benoit Ladouceur of Therien Jiu-Jitsu and Kickboxing from Gatineau, Quebec won the Cruiser Weight Canadian Amateur Kickboxing Championship and Renshi Robert Ladouceur of Therien Jiu-Jitsu and Kickboxing of Gatineau, Quebec won the Super Heavy Weight Canadian Amateur Kickboxing Championship; these two athletes did five rounds each winning the title of Canadian Amateur Kickboxing Championship by unanimous decisions.

Benoit Ladouceur successfully defended his title of Canadian Amateur Kickboxing Championship, Division CruiserWeight . Robert Ladouceur who was the holder of the Quebec Provincial Heavy Weight Title is now the Canadian Champion in the Super Heavy Weight Divison.

Tanya Ayoub, also from Therien Jiu-Jitsu and Kickboxing, Gatineau, who fought her first kickboxing match, did extremely well in the three rounds but in the end lost by split decision. |
