Canadian Kickboxing Championship

May 12, 2007

On the 12th of May two of Jean-Yves Thériault’s Team Iceman members attended the night of champions amateur kickboxing Gala. This event was held in Oakville, Ontario and was sanctioned by the Council of Canadian Amateur Sport Kickboxing. It was an evening packed with tremendous athletic ability, raw courage and determination, and the adrenaline rush of reality combat.

In the main event it was René Gratton of Mont-Laurier, Québec who was facing off against Canadian welterweight Champion John Nash of Toronto, Ontario. These two athletes gave us an amazing fight full of emotions. In the end René Gratton was crowned the new champion.

In the Semi-main event, for the Central Canadian Cruiser weight Title, we had Benoit Ladouceur from Therien Jiu-Jitsu and Kickboxing, Gatineau, Québec facing off against Bart Molenda from Burlington, Ontario. These two athletes had battled each other twice before, each winning one bout. Their third encounter was a spectacular demonstration of kickboxing at its best, both of these athletes gave it their all but in the end, Benoit proved to be the better technician. Winning the bout and becoming the Central Canadian cruiser weight champion.

Congratulations to all of these athletes and thank you for all the excitement and spectacular kickboxing action.
